MFA and GFA UEFA Grassroots day
UEFA Grassroots Day on the 22nd May will be marked by an activity involving schoolchildren who will be participating in a series of small sided football matches on the day.
The event, under the auspices of the MFA, will this year be held on a regional basis at five different venues rather than at the training grounds at Ta’ Qali. In this way the playing sessions will be scattered over a wide cross-section of the island. Thus 5 Nurseries will be running the event held jointly with the Grassroots Department of the MFA with the collaboration of the KMS-SPU. Gozo too will be holding the activity under the jurisdiction of the Gozo FA.
Primary schools have been invited to take part in what should be an enjoyable morning. Four grades of pupils, from Grade 3 to Grade 6, will be able to show their football skills at the game.
The nurseries are St Patrick, Hamrun Spartans, Fgura United, St Andrew’s and Mosta.

Kull nomina trid tkun skond kif jitlob l-Istatut. Il-hatra ghal dawn il-postijiet hija ta’ hames membri ghall perjodu ta’ stagun (2013-2014).Jekk tkun mehtiega elezzjoni, din tinzamm waqt l-A.G.M. f’Gunju.
(3) Form 01. Stagun 2010-2011. In-nurseries li jixtiequ jiehdu sehem fil-Kompjanati/Festivals/Fun Games, organizzati mill-YFA matul l-istagun li jmiss, huma mitluba biex mhux aktar tard min-nhar it-Tnejn 27 ta’ Mejju 2013, jibghatu Form 01 lis-Segretarju Generali YFA. Dawk li ma jibaghtux din il-formola sa din il-gurnata jkunu kkunsidrati li mhux ser jippartecipaw ghall-istagun li jmiss.
(4) Form 03. Delegati/Sub Delegati Stagun 2013-2014. Bi preparament ghall-A.G.M., kif ukoll ghall-istagun 2013-2014, is-segretarji tan-nurseries huma fid-dover li jimlew Form 03 u jibghatu l-formola kompluta bid-dettalji lis-Segretarju Generali tal-Y.F.A., sa mhux aktar tard min-nhar it-Tnejn 27 ta’ Mejju 2013. Il-Kunsill ikun irid japprova lid-delegati sabiex dawn ikunu jistghu jattendu ghal-Laqgha Generali Annwali, kif ukoll biex ikollhom id-dritt ghall-vot.

Introduction and welcome by the Youth FA's President, Fr. Hilary Tagliaferro
We may recall that the long history of the Youth F.A. started with the founding of the Educational Sports Centre at Marsa in l972. That was the very first nursery in Malta. Hundreds of Children attended once or twice a week to train in football, basketball, athletics and gymnastics.Slowly but truly, the early eighties gave birth to the football nursery practically in every small and big town in Malta. The Youth F.A. was established in 1982 comprising first 8 nurseries and clubs progressing rapidly to the present day. Each nursery caters for children from 6years to 17year old youths. Nearly each nursery participates in Under 10 & 12 Festivals as well as in U/14 & U/16 Competitions. The aims of the educational sports center, as the name denotes, was to educate children through sports. Although the Youth F.A. and all the nurseries do not refer directly to education in their names, the spirit of the aims remain those of forming the characters of children and youths through the game of football. Pele’ used to say that a player needs first to become a Man and then a Player. Unless there is a sense of sacrifice and obedience to the laws of the Game and Coaching discipline any child with the best talent in the world will never become a total player.
